The Body:
The body is decorated with several circles and several fluted patterns. The circles depict knights carrying swords and hunting, surrounded by leaf motifs. Additionally, at the bottom of the body, there is a single seal of Sultan Qaitbay.
The Lid:
The cover is adorned with a band of Mamluk script bearing the titles of the Sultan. On the face of the lid, there is a circle with the Sultan’s titles, surrounded by predatory animals. There are also cartouches inside with Mamluk script.
Interior of the body:
On the inner face of the lid, there is a cartouche in Mamluk script, surrounded by leaf motifs. Inside, there are four openings for ink and quills: two are surrounded by leaf motifs and the larger opening at the bottom is adorned with a lion and a gazelle.
